charlottesville, richmond. had a couple of sprinkles near us this morning. most of that is on the eastern shore. this is probably the last time we'll look at doppler radar this morning. temps warm and muggy. 72347 annapolis. martinsburg is 66 with 70 in winchester and 73 la plata. we're going into the low 90s in most spots this afternoon. tomorrow's highs about the same. >> a couple of water main breaks and slow traffic forming in the 6:00 hour. good morning, everybody. first of all if you're planning to head inbound i-66 through arlington you'll be fine but there is a water main break on south courthouse roadblocked between columbia pike and 6th street. you'll have to work your way around that for quite some time with the road buckled as well. if you're planning to head over here, no problems to report as you travel inbound right now on kenilworth avenue and eastern avenue. this is going to be in the northeast corridor. let's go back over to the maps and this time we'll head over to the other side of town. no problems on the bw parkway or route 50 inside the bel

but there was a disabled vehicle in the roadway as well. we have our delia goncalves out live telling us about the situation on the green line as well. maybe metro is going to be a better idea, delia? >> reporter: it sounds like it so far. they were reporting a 15-minute delay. however, good news to pass along to commuters on the green line this morning. no delays. crews were able to repair that train derailment -- i'm sorry, they were able to repair the portion of the track that caused the train derailment not too far away from this west hyattsville stop on friday. metro is blaming the extreme heat for expanding a portion of that rail so when the train passed by around 5:00 p.m. friday, it derailed inside the tunnel. prince george's county fire responded to the scene quickly and evacuated passengers safely. >> 95ems folks operating on the scene assisted in evacuating the 56 people from the train. our folks entered the tunnel from the station, walked down to the train, meet up with the conductor of the train, make sure they had to a face to face to know where the patients were. >> they were si

showing us things are quiet overnight. for most of today, most of us should stay dry but we could catch an isolated shower or storm this afternoon. temperatures for today will be around 77 this hour and 70s for manassas. here's a look at your traffic with monika. good morning. >>> good morning, anny. we've had a couple of situations early this morning. the one i've been telling you about lately is southbound georgia avenue in wheaton. i'm happy to say that all lanes have been reopened. that accident has been cleared. so you should be good to go past the wheaton metro station right now southbound on georgia avenue. let's take a live look at 270 on the southbound side. that's beginning to load up past route 109. it's going to be pretty much continuous now to route 121 before the pace improves but i think we can deal with that. we'll go back over to our maps and this time to the south side of town. northbound on i-95 right now it's incident free coming up from dale city to woodbridge. i love july in the sense that you really don't have those long slowdowns heading to the occoquan river. we

bernstein fills us in. >> it's a heat advisory. saturday will be the worst day heat-wise, and then relief next week. 80 right now. we'll be in the mid-90s by lunchtime, and near 100 for a high today with 98 degrees at 5:00 p.m. slight chance to see a storm this afternoon, kind of like we've been doing. had a couple of storms overnight. some loud ones with lots of lightning. these guys have the warning this morning. well, the rain has fizzled out entirely. look at these temps. 70 in martinsburg but near 80 in winchester. 82 in annapolis. 81 across the bay. we're 80, heat advisory start as noon. let's go to monika here at 6:00 a.m. with a look at the traffic. >> sounded like a broken record this week telling everybody if you approach an intersection that's dark, treat it as a four-way stop. it's still that situation today. you have about 25 to 30 signals out in montgomery county. police are directing only at major intersections. 270 is nice and light. a lot of people took the week off from july 4th into the weekend. you are seeing that 270 is very light. let's go outside live right now to s

. you're at 66 degrees. satellite and radar showing us most of the showers and storms are south of us. we've got high pressure in control so it's going to be a pretty nice day today. temperatures will top out right around seasonable high. in downtown close to 90. 87 for andrews air force base. upper 80s for arlington. 87 sterling and fairfax you should top out at around 87 degrees. here's a look at your time saver traffic with monika. >> we're going to start off with a live look from sky 9. you're looking at an accident southbound on route 210 at berry road. it's just before the charles county line. nasty overnight accident and you can see that crews are there. they're going to take a while to clean it up and investigate first. so it's going to be blocked for a while on the southbound side. you want to go ahead and use livingston road instead. northbound you can see also that the lanes are open, although it probably is attracting some attention, at least for that rush hour flow. i'll keep you posted on that situation. let's go to a map so i can show you exactly where it is on the sout

definitely want to plan ahead. highs today in the 80s for most of us. we'll see this trend continue as we go in toward the weekend. saturday upper 70s to near 80 degrees. we'll stay code yellow and improve things nicely on sunday when we finally lose some of that heat. monika? >>> overall generally speaking, your major thoroughfares are fine with the exception of two spots. if you're planning to head over to the beltway on the east side of town, there had been this accident near kenilworth avenue. everything was moved to the shoulder but it left slow traffic getting by southbound 495. bw parkway route 50 both are fine as you head for the beltway and beyond through cheverly into the northeast corridor. we'll take a live look at the beltway north of town at new hampshire avenue. still no real delays to speak of on the outer loop as you leave the 95 interchange past new hampshire avenue and headed for silver spring area. let's go back over to the maps and this time we'll head over to the other side of town. no problems on 66 as you head inbound from manassas till you reach 7100 where an acciden

damage storms here to the north. this stuff fell awart as-coming to us -- apart as it was coming to us and it was good news for us. unfortunately it did damage in the new york region and eastern pennsylvania. a couple of sprinkles in eastern and west virginia leftover now. temperatures in the low to mid- 70s although 60s in fair et county and pushing 80 right now going to about 95. over to monika samtani. 6:00 a.m. with your timesaver traffic. >>> we have one incident right now. it's southbound on 295 after benning road. and you want to watch out because there's some debris apparently in the right lane scoot over to the left to get around it. let's go over to the west side of town. no problems to report on 66, or the dulles toll road coming in from the airport. you are good to go both of those major corridors to the beltway and no issues at all across the american hee john bridge. -- legion bridge. live outside and if you're going over on the inbound side of i-66, this is at route 50 from our sky 9 and you can see it's actually still looking pretty good heading for 123 and the beltway.

of the man. family members tell us tommy wong worked late friday night, usually home though by 10:00 306789 but when he did not return home by midnight, family members called police and rushed to the store here. investigators will not release details but they do tell us wong was a victim of an armed robbery around 4:00, friday afternoon. customers we spoke to describe a security system, pretty elaborate that he had in place and hoped to prevent such a tragedy. >> for insurance reasons you got in the door and then once you got that door closed, he would buzz you in on the other side. i don't know what to make of it. it is stupid. it is another loss of a good person. >> that is all you can say about it. another loss of a good person. >> reporter: ssenseless act. this is the person i was telling you about. these are surveillance pictures of the suspect. police say these were taken just as he was walking into the store minutes before the murder. he is described as a black man in his 50s with a medium build. he is wearing a neon yellow traffic vest and that could have been the reason why family
